I chose to read "Free Lunch" by Rex Ogle for a couple different reasons. For one, I thought the front covered looked different and it was bright so naturally it looked like a good read to me. Another main reason I chose it was because of the year it was published. I was originally going to read a memoir from 2001 but after thinking, that seemed too long ago and may not apply as well to today as something from the year 2019, like "Free Lunch." The part that sold me on reading this memoir was after I looked it up to get a little more information, the first thing I read is "Winner of the 2020 YALSA Excellence in Nonfiction Award" and "teachers pick" on Amazon. I thought this book would definitely entertain me and I am excited to start reading it!
